OTP banka supports students from low-income families and student-athletes with a donation of HRK 750,000

Once again, as part of the “Green light to knowledge” programme, OTP banka has decided to give scholarships to students coming from low-income families and to full-time students recognised for their outstanding sporting achievements. Over the past twelve years, the bank set aside more than seven and a half million kunas for this particular programme.

Education is the foundation on which any society builds its future, where the young who have the zeal, but lack the funds to educate themselves and improve upon their knowledge and skills are one of the most sensitive groups. Ever since 2010, in cooperation with the local communities, OTP banka has been running its programme „Green light to knowledge“ in order to ensure better education opportunities to children and the young across Croatia. Thus, academic year 2021/2022 saw the project of granting scholarships to students coming from low-income families brought to life in partnership with the towns of Split, Zadar, Sisak, Biograd na Moru, and Buzet, municipalities Župa dubrovačka, Bilje, Jakšić, Nuštar, Lanišće, Barban, and Pićan, as well as with the University of Zadar, and Caritas of the Diocese of Dubrovnik, where the bank partnered up with the towns and municipalities to support their already established scholarship programmes. Scholarships were granted in a tender, where eligibility was limited to socioeconomic status and overall academic achievement.

In the same academic year, aiming to encourage excellence in sports in Croatian universities, the bank continued supporting student-athletes. Four full-time students were selected in a tender as both their academic and sports achievements made them stand out.

Over the past twelve years, the bank set aside more than seven and a half million kunas via its programme „Green light to knowledge“ to improve upon the academic setting and invest into education.
