Employees decide on associations and projects most worthy of donations

OTP banka finalised the donation cycle within the initiative named “Green light to those who help” where during one month it made donations to the total of 25 associations and projects dealing with and aimed at mitigating the difficulties and challenges caused by COVID-19 epidemic.

In addition to the associations we have been donating so far, our employees decided to make a donation to the association of women receiving cancer treatment "Sve za nju" (All for Her) from Zagreb, to contribute to the procurement of two suction devices by the “Kolibrići” association, and to enable the dance studio Korak to continue with their online training programme. Other associations and clubs that our employees considered worth supporting were: Innovatic – association for robotics from Split, Zadar Swimming Club, Brda Volleyball Club, safe house for women and children victims of domestic violence in Pula, whilst the  Education Centre from Čakovec was given aid for materials intended for distance learning of the children with learning disorders, and the association for therapeutic and recreational activities “4 lista” from Osijek for their equine facilitated therapy for children with developmental disorders.

The Board members not only supported this praiseworthy initiative and involvement of the employees, but they too were involved in the process of selection of donations. As Zvonimir Akrap, Board member, pointed out: “Personally, I can say that this was an exceptionally positive and invigorating experience. Taking a break from the usual business topics and video calls, and making decisions about something this noble, showing corporate social responsibility in these complex times together with my colleagues who I do not often see, made me proud of all of us.“

OTP banka showed its corporate social responsibility in these challenging times by its timely reactions and donations totalling HRK 2.9 million to hospitals nationwide, enticing not only its employees but also the clients through the initiative “OTPetica for Croatian Hospitals“ whereby the users of OTPetica had an opportunity to exchange their points for donation vouchers. In the period from 14/4 – 31/5/2020 as many as 2,633 users of this loyalty programme donated their points totalling HRK 111,060.00, and the amount was distributed to seven Croatian hospitals in equal portions.
